I got up shortly before 7 this morning. That was sleeping in! The rest of this week I’ve been getting up with my husband at 4 or shortly after and showering and starting to work on chores. For some reason if I shower later it wakes the kids up, and no one wants them up at 5:30, am I right? Their whole schedule gets knocked out of whack. Anyway, Monday I tackled laundry, Tuesday I tackled a list of chores that spanned a whole page, things that hadn’t been done in forever. The sad thing is, that you can’t really tell, that’s why they never get done. Cleaning off my desk, ceiling fans, getting all the junk/bills/stuff that needs returned to people stacked nicely on the counter, etc. I was really proud of myself because I had really worked from before sunup to past sundown and had basically only sat down to sneak in a few cooking shows (and did things I could sit and do, or ate, while I was doing that). Very productive. It helped that my husband took both kids to swim lessons instead of just the one actually IN swim lessons, I got a good hour to myself to unwind and finish up a few final things. Thanks to Sayre for blogging along with my WW spring cleaning! She is working on cleaning out her garage, a perfect spring cleaning project! Go over and say hi, would ya, and see how things turn out in part 2!
Wednesday I was rewarded for all my hard work with Spring. Glorious spring, where the birds and the squirrels and yes, even the ants come out of hiding. After hoping for a nice peaceful day, and having a good breakfast, trip to the library, lunch, and a little coloring party before nap with the kids, that’s when I spotted them. So of course I spent all afternoon Wednesday spraying the ones I saw with a spray cleaner (they did not like that) and/or squishing them, and rearranging the kids kitchen play toys (food from OUR table had gotten knocked underneath their stuff and I didn’t know it–right by the french doors, recipe for disaster) while sweeping and mopping every last crumb. Then we laid down poison at the doorway, rearranged the kids stuff, moved our buffet across the room, and basically opened up in front of the doors. That should help. A lot. Not only are the toys further away from our table, but they’re not right in front of the doors.
Thursday I only saw a couple of ants, moving slowly in the morning, and a handful of little bodies. I’m guessing the first scouts never made it out, so obviously they quit sending more in, (cue evil homeowner laugh). Then of course I swept and swept and mopped and picked up crumbs and got the floor really clean so hopefully that will be that. I haven’t checked as of yet (Friday) but since I didn’t see any more Thursday I’m really hoping we’re done with that. You can bet I don’t ever want to deal with that again. I don’t MOP my floors very often, but I do sweep them 1-6 times a day. I wish I were kidding, but this kids are crummy! 😉 (Yes that’s an intentional pun, I do know how to spell crumb!) After all the hard work I’d put in, I felt like that was a giant kick in the arse. We had a 2nd (less successful) trip to a neighboring library, the kids never want to leave because there are more toys there. Picture hauling a wailing 4 year old and bewildered toddler out of 2 sets of double glass doors. Yeah, peachy. Besides that, we had to go get the last round of toddler immunizations. We were able to do so at the doctor’s office! With stickers! Nice bandaids! The offer of a sucker! And insurance is going to pay for them! YEAH!!!!!!!!! I’ve spent countless hours trying to get insurance to pay for all her past shots, but since we were forced to go to the health department, they weren’t covered. Annoying. Now I guess it’s been switched around and the health department is shunting the kids back to doctor’s offices. Which means insurance pays for those kids, not the government. I think the ‘change in healthcare’ that has been put into place with our current president is the cause. Just a guess, but that works out GREAT for us, so, you know, whatever. Immunizations always make me nervous, I’m afraid the kids will get sick after them (thanks arse-hat that said falsely that they cause autism, you really screw with my head, even today). Anyway, the kids have had fractured naps this week (most of it their design) so they slept in later today, too! Bonus! So far B is still sleeping and K just got up, with daddy working at home, she’s wisely hanging out upstairs for a few minutes. Go mommy, get your blog on! (Yes I just did a cheer for myself, problem? okay then!) Moving on.
Tomorrow is an Easter egg hunt for the community. This means 2 things: adorable pictures, and lots of candy in our house! The Easter bunny will be bringing some crackers and such in their eggs since there will be so much other candy in the house, plus a chocolate rabbit, and we’ll provide an Easter gift for them as well, small stuff, but fun. My husband will be gone starting Sunday afternoon and won’t get home until midnight Friday, so it’s going to be a LONG week. Hopefully a nice weekend will make up for it, although, really, they’re calling for snow. Hello, spring? Where are you?!? We do have K’s club (did I mention they’ll have an egg hunt there, too?), 2 swim lessons, and my parents said they’d come down one night so that should keep us occupied fairly well. I’ve been hanging onto some Easter crafts, too, and have Easter themed printouts, and I was smart enough to get some FAVORITE movies from the library, so we should be set.
Cleaning all week means that all the good I did on Monday with laundry (washed and dried 4, folded 6) is now completely pointless and requires me to wash the whole kit’n’caboodle again. Have a great weekend ya’ll, and I hope you got to ‘sleep in’, too.
