About

Hi, I’m Jill. My motto is: Life is not bubble wrapped. Sometimes, it is downright hard. I see no reason to hide that fact or make it seem like life is all about flutterbyes and being all wrapped up and protected, when it’s not. Sometimes, life is messy, you get grass stains, people fight, children fall down and get scratched up, and everyone learns and grows in the process.

I’m a down to earth country girl, a bit totally cranky with those who don’t use good sense, common courtesy, or manners. I like football, Jesus, and doing what is right. I have a wonderful husband that I love, with all his faults, and he loves me because I am perfect despite mine. I write about my mixed-up life, homeschooling and raising 4 gorgeous girls into productive, kind, and healthy members of society.

I think that difference is a beautiful thing. Sometimes the people I get along the best with are ones that by the pure virtue of being around them makes me stretch my thinking and comfort zone. So let it be known, I don’t care if you’re black, white, speak a different language, wear different clothes or just have really abnormal ideas, if you’re straight, gay, or any thing else you think separates you from the world, I don’t care if you’re pea green with purple polka dots, you’re okay with me.

We’re The New Old School: Breastfeeding, baby led weaning, cloth diapers, home cooking, dust it off-you’re not hurt, do unto others.. and splash in mud puddles country way of life.

LOVE the name of your blog. You are right, you should def not act like everything is perfect. You can waste your whole life doing that when all you had to do is care about the more important things, such as, not losing your sanity keeping everyone happy! lol

hi Jill just wanted to tell you I think your blog is really hard to navigate. I can never figure out how to find your posts… maybe I am doing something wrong?

I would like to copy and paste your post on what your trash tells us about you on a closed class webpage to supplement a lesson activity I will be doing with about 300 6th grade students. I would like your permission to do this and keep it over 5 years time. I can’t link to the site because of the extraneous items on the page. I will credit you and your website.

Do I have your permission to do this?

    Sincerely
    Nancy Stearns
