About 6 years ago I received a call from someone who I knew a long time ago. I remember the rough time because I was pregnant with my oldest. This person chatted and made several ‘dire’ references. I waited for the other shoe to drop. I was not confident that this person was being truthful. This person then told me that they had cancer. Nearly a year later, I caught up with them on facebook (I think) and sent them a message and asked how treatment was going. They claimed that they were ill and just now getting treatment. There was some talk about involvement with important/vital systems metastasizing and letting their kids ‘be’ with family so they got used to being without them.
All this time later, I almost never hear anything about their journey, they don’t seem to have a wig, and are able to handle a business, single parenthood, side jobs, and lots and lots of trips and such with friends. You’re talking I was pregnant and now I have a 5 year old. It’s been so long… so..how do I approach this person (online) and ask how they are doing given that they appear not to be ill? What if they were lying? Is there a way to ‘fox’ them out without directly doing so? Does it really matter?
Help me out here? What would you do?
Ami
I don’t know if it matters or not to get to the truth. If the person is lying, they have much bigger issues than anything you can handle, ya know?
Personally, it sounds like someone to steer clear of. Permanently.
