Life is Sweet
The kids went to a dental event on Saturday. We needed some sort of health curriculum and having tagged ‘dental’ as a good plan, it was a perfect fit. The 3, 5, and 8 year olds were all eligible, so they all went with dad, watched a video at a nearby library, did some fun happy/sad teeth props (the 3 year old thought sweet soda would make teeth happy) and got a packet of activities which we used on Thursday!
Saturday night we also made 2 kinds of cookies for the exchange on Sunday. The kids took ownership and were thrilled with the items they made. Plus, they traded for all sorts of goodies and that made them VERY happy! We sponsored flowers, so we brought some home and used them for sketching. After they fade, the kids will play with them outside and maybe they’ll become compost for the yard.
Valentines
First of all, Dad surprised all the girls with flowers for Valentine’s day. Due to his lack of planning, he had completely forgotten and I think the florist laughed at him, but it was sweet, he handed them out to all the kids and their faces lit up. We made him brownies. The kids were big helpers, cracking eggs, stirring in some peanut butter chips, opening the box mix. We ordered a pizza after that, and watched a TV show together. They also wrote their names on papers and taped them to bags of popcorn that said ‘popping by to wish you a happy valentines’ day.’ They had a lot of fun with it and gave them out at club. My 8 year old then surprised me by reporting back that only 2 of her classmates said thank you. She said was pretty unimpressed.
We continued all of our review and started working on more advanced addition and multiplication skills, as well as doing some additional copywork and language exercises. Don’t forget the mountain of books I took back to the library, too. In addition to club, there was swimming, library events, MOMS group, a hair cut for me, a park outing, and a well visit for the baby.
