Dinos are done
Dinosaurs continued to roam through our home school as we entered the last week of fall semester! This concludes week 5 of dinos and dinos are done! The kids continued to read dinosaur themed books and I ordered the rest to come in over the holiday. This last week dad was able to help out. Meanwhile, I snuck off to a church breakfast. For art I found a great cracked egg printable (see Resources, below) that I may use for every subject that has eggs, this would be easy and fun for all egg hatching critters, and we’re studying all the animal classifications later this year! We finished up their dinosaur sticker books this week. I found a quick test on Teachers pay Teachers and the kids did really well. They did some fun Christmas worksheets and my oldest even learned to plot on a coordinate plane and made a TRex. It was really cute!
Moving on…
We ordered our very own dinosaur dictionary because my daughter loved it so much. It’s arranged by time period and I can see us paging through it often. My husband noticed there was one on space, too, so we will be using that as a huge reference in the new year! I plan on ordering them the sticker books similar to the dinosaur ones we just finished with, and the FIRST book they did was one of the dollar cheapies from target and we only have a single Space one as well, so I will be supplementing with bits here and there for the Kindergartener. First I checked my online Pinterest boards. Next I opened up all the resources I had researched this fall. Finally, If you haven’t been to Little Caesar’s lately, they have partnered with Kennedy Space Center and are handing out space booklets. Who cares if it came from a pizza place? My Kindergartner will love it!
I ordered a bunch of curriculum books I plan on pulling from and perusing just to see what the higher levels say. We have used activities from the YOUNGER books, and my older student is definitely going to need more of a challenge by next year! So the majority of my break is going to be planning, going through and recording dinosaur books, ordering space themed reading books and so on! Dinos are done!
