The A States are what we focused on this week: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas.
If I know any kind of music about the state, I play that and relay any other facts that I know of, adding in history and current events as we go. They also do art from each state- example: if you had your own state, what would it be called? What would live there? What would it look like?
They’re working their way through various workbooks, focusing on the Fab 5- reading, writing, spelling, math, penmanship/alphabet. They like them. Whatever. We do announcements and sometimes say the pledge. I’m filling in with some fun coloring pages, etc. It’s very light right now. I’m assessing where my newly minted 5 yo is in her levels. I’m trying to shove my older child along to learn her math facts instead of counting on her fingers before we go on to multiplication. I’d love it if anyone had any tips.
We’ve had the typical false starts you’d expect in a week 1 of school, but I predict good things from these cheeky girls!
