It’s the last week of the regular home school year. I split the kids workbooks into 4 more days and we’re calling it a semester! Yes! It’s bit more than I’d normally have them do from the workbooks in a week, but a lot is review or fairly easy for them.
The 4 yo last whole week is a ‘getting ready for kindergarten’ type of thing, reviewing the whole book in just a couple dozen pages. We’ve already inadvertently done a few of them that were more color by number types. Bonus! Some of the pages are literally only one question, so she really wasn’t overwhelmed. On the other hand she ended up with what looks like strep rash (scarlet fever) but with a neg. strep test. Who knows. Anyway she finished up on Friday instead of Thursday since she spent Thursday itching a ton. Poor kid. But still, she’s on her way to Kindergarten… at the kitchen table. Ha!
The 7 yo is just finishing up some of the things I was putting off. They were similar to some unit studies I wanted to do, so I just kind of, waited I guess to see if we had time. We haven’t. Maybe that will be summer study. Animal classifications, etc. This is only first grade after all, so I’m not too concerned about ticking all the boxes– just yet. While summer means more reading/ less book work, learning abounds. Just because it’s the last week of school doesn’t mean we won’t be hitting the literal books this summer! So she’ll be 2nd/3rd grade next year!
This week was also Bible School week, which meant a lot of late nights, and additional craft/art time not sponsored by mom, woo!
So our last week for ‘back to basics’ home school — loving this in May! Here we go:
