My oldest asked about Hanukkah yesterday, and just like anything else, I answered her honestly that it was a holiday kind of like Christmas that was celebrated by people whose religion is Judaism . She said, oh. Like Jews? And I said, yes, Jews. Simple enough. [Peg Plus Cat on PBS brought it up]… she watched whatever the show was which chronicled how to celebrate and incorporated math topics within… I see no reason to worry overmuch about any of it. Celebrate whatever you celebrate, wish people a happy/merry/festive whatever you celebrate (or better yet, what THEY celebrate if you know what it is)… and let the rest go… take a lesson from our children.
