As a surprise we took the kids to a local visitor’s center, to see an eagle. I intend for them to study birds later on, but this was too good to pass up now, and we can always refer back to pictures if they ‘forget’ before then. Eagles tend to congregate at the conjunction of the rivers around these parts, and we’ve seen them overhead even as far away as we live from time to time, soaring on the updrafts just as easy as you please. The kids wiggled their way up front. I got one picture and that was about it. So we posed by the big stuffed eagle. Who knows, maybe we’ll do this every year? Pay no attention to the man behind the bird, he’s just propping up the toddler. Ha!
We also took the kids to the Audubon center, and out for a walk to the river front. It was cold, so it didn’t last long, but they got to see all the birds on the ice, got a mini lesson on pollution (ick) and a pelican, which was quite huge as well.
