I haven’t been online very much the last couple of weeks. It occurred to me that out of the goal of 25 books I set for myself at the end of last year (which I thought I could easily do!) was a bit… presumptuous. First I had to think that I would have the books, which means discovering ones I want to read, getting them ordered, and finding time to go pick them up. When I realized in October that I had done no such thing for the last 9 months and that I was about a dozen or more books behind –and that I’d actually only read a handful of non-kids books– I decided to start ordering books by the half dozen and just plowing through them.
It’s difficult to find time, but during naps, while the kids snooze or watch tv, and late at night before falling rapidly asleep, I’m making time. Time I would spend on the computer. Time I might spend with my husband to be sure– but of course he’s been miserable anyway and wanting to sleep a lot– so all’s well that ends well.
Did I mention? He had shoulder surgery on Oct 23rd. My 3 year old broke her arm the same day. It has been 2 weeks and her arm is healed, but of course his, not by a long shot. We’ve all had sinus issues, colds, allergies, or some combination of it all. So while the baby coughs and keeps me awake, I turn to a story that I can shut guilt free. Somehow, turning off the computer (where my friends all live)… seems like the wrong thing to do. But a book can’t miss you…
or can it? If you’re looking for a fun book, check out ‘Between the Lines’ by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. I think it’s one I’ll have my kids read as they approach junior high. It’s such a great introduction to YA novels. Before they whet their appetites on Divergent, the Hunger Games, Twilight or gasp! Romance Novels!! I think I’ll introduce them to this book instead. The story really jumps right off the page at you…
So that’s what I’ve been doing. Have you made time to read lately? Check out my book reviews in the tags or search for Goodreads in my search box to see previous years’ book lists!

I haven’t been reading much lately. I have a stack of books to get to, but my days are so busy that when I finally get time to myself, I fall asleep. Sound familiar?
