Geffen Baby does it again! Like when I reviewed the High Absorbers in 2012, and the Hemp Jersey Flat last year, I instantly fell in love with these *new* Newborn Super Absorbers. I love natural fibers! I like to test all the products out extensively before rating them, because user error does occur and especially with products made from natural materials, I rarely wash them the required number of times for maximum absorption. Patience? Not my virtue. I did manage to get 3 washes in before putting these bad boys in our diapers, and was impressed with how well they absorbed right off the bat-especially because of their size.
See my little pumpkin is my first heavily wetting baby. By that I mean diapers my other kid(s) wore as toddlers? She soaked completely and leaked through onto her clothes. AS A NEWBORN! Wow! I was already pondering looking for my high absorbers to add in to some of these poor diapers that weren’t cutting it. So when Geffen Baby contacted me and asked if I wanted to give the newborn absorbers a try, I immediately said YES! After using them for about 2 weeks (so 5 times roughly), I was so impressed with their absorption that I found myself wishing that I had kept one back to stick inside my bra for a nursing pad! (Guess what? I found out they make nursing pads, too!) They are composed of 60% hemp and 40% organic cotton and made in the USA (employing people here in the States? awesome!) Check out how thin these are! You be able to fit these into even the trimmest of newborn diapers. If you have trouble having those tiny ones last due to absorption issues, this might be just the thing to keep your little one into those adorable prints and colors longer!
One day this week I had put my little one in one of those ‘scary’ diapers that worked great for my last baby even as a toddler, but C’s given it a run for it’s money nearly every time at only 2 months old and 12ish pounds. I tucked the GB Newborn Absorber in between the layers of the diaper and an hour or so later she let me know (loudly) that she needed changed. Handling the insert, it felt like about three times the weight and didn’t even seem fully absorbed yet! Yes I held the peed on insert-I put my hands on pee, just for you! The diaper itself felt very full, but it did NOT leak! Yeah! My suspicion is that it would have absorbed more (as hemp is a slow soaker) if she was not so sensitive to wetness. When she goes, she lets us know! I think this would be a great addition to any newborn stash and indispensable if you have a heavy wetter! I’ll definitely be adding these in for naps and overnights specifically once we have a regular schedule going. We’re still at ‘anything goes’ right now. Check out the softness in the close-up below and then scroll down for the giveaway!
Disclosure: Geffen Baby graciously sent me a pack of newborn absorbers to test, and one to give away. I was not compensated in any other way. As always, this is my blog and I tell you the truth. My humble way of saying, the opinions are my own, and may differ from yours, so use your best judgement in every purchase decision you makeβwise in these economic times, right?

^ Casey, I was thinking fitteds with snaps too!
It’s hard to think of something, since they pretty much have it all covered. But, maybe some mama cloth? Since their fabrics are so trim and absorbent! They might make some great cloth pads!
Mary S.
I agree with the fitteds with a snap closure option! That would be awesome!

It’s not really a new item… but I’d love to see them add XL fitted diapers for special needs kids!

I agree with adding XL and XXL sizes for those big kiddos. Also a fitted with hemp fabric for overnight so you don’t have to mess with more doublers.

Winged prefolds would be awesome π

They have a lot of bases covered, but I don’t see mama/lady cloth up there, which would be nice.

I have some of the flats which are wonderful and can’t wait to use them on our next baby but for my toddler we ue them as a doubler or have to double them up. So I would like to see 2 sizes of the flats. Thanks!
