A peek at the week….inside my womb:
Fruit/Veggie Comparison: 37 weeks: Baby weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (about the size of a bunch of Swiss chard). <–this is a lie. The baby practically stands on my lap now.
Shape: I’m shocked when I look in the mirror at how thin my face is. I know that will change with IV fluids and perhaps antibiotics if needed, but I look ALL belly. My husband said that I’d just be deflated. He’s right. Scary! I’ve gained about 15 lbs after the ups and downs in general.
Food: I would really love to have Mexican food from our local place and some of those darn gooey cheese fries from Outback. I have missed them, and I think my sugars have been so much in control that it’s ridiculous. Half the time after lunch I’m still starving and it feels so unfair to only have ‘so much’ in the last half of the day, when I’m used to eating heavier then. I know I won’t get a date night for a VERY x 100 long time after baby is born, if due to nothing else other than weather.
Least favorite thing: The discovery of high blood pressure and the 3 hours I spent in the hospital LAST Friday being monitored. I felt so trapped and afraid. All my conditions are wearing me out.
Most favorite thing: Little feet or hands or whatever poking out individually. It’s crazy. I will miss this ‘most of all’!
Mental state: How are we this much closer to baby’s arrival? Didn’t we just find out? Holy crud! Also, surgery is scary. I could die. Oh my God what did I get myself into? I have 2 kids already, what if I DO die and they’re left with Matt? I mean, he’s awesome, but he can’t nurse a baby and work full time and take care of both other kids full time. AHHHHH! *runs screaming*.. okay there’s no way I can run.. but you get the gist.
Preparation:
– Some batches of homemade BBQ, pizza, and spaghetti/meat sauce are in the freezer ready to go!
-The newborn diapers came in and I washed them and all the other diapers that I’d gotten over the course of the last few months through giveaways and what not and washed them and either tucked them away for bigger sizes, or put them with the diaper bag for taking to the hospital!
-Yesterday I sorted through the diapers that had been littering the floor of the nursery (seriously) and either washed as above, sorted to be fixed, donated, or gone through later to donate and labeled. Whew.
-I unboxed the womb bear (love those) and got it on the crib and started sorting through other items, boiled binkys, tracking down baby care items, etc.
-Made some more banana bread this morning with chocolate chips (no pecans, big kid was less than enthused) to toss in the freezer. That should make her happy!
-I feel like I’m finally moving into the nesting phase now. This morning I just cleaned up all the ‘labels for education’, I knew some of them expired before K can use them, so I sorted those out for one of her friends that’s already in school. I’m labeling everything that someone else might have a question about. Good times. I’m sure it’s a sickness of some sort, but at this point I figure better safe than sorry. Our kids’ babysitter is supposed to come over tomorrow to hang out, so we’re going to either A. clean or B. shop or C. rest or D. all of the above. She has more energy than the adults in this house at this point, so since the offer was made, we’re taking her up on it!
Edit: put all the sheets and such on the crib!
