A peek at the week…inside my womb:
Fruit/Veggie Comparison: our baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (about the size of a cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long.
Shape: Well I had a virus this week, so I lost about 4 more lbs. I’m sure some of it will come back, but basically all it did was drop a little more weight from my face. I still look like I’m carrying the proverbial watermelon. No surprise there!
Food: Still on the gestational diabetes diet, but making it work for me. Since the kids trick or treated, and my hubby BOUGHT stuff in between, I discovered I could have 2 small pkgs of peanut m and m’s as a snack (less carbs than my general 16 crackers) and I got 15 bites of chocolate. Not bad, really. I won’t do it often, obviously because the wheat crackers are probably better for me, but still… a nice treat after a couple of weeks of avoiding all sugars! Also the kids ate my wheat crackers 🙁 so I need to replace them!
Least favorite thing: Waiting. It feels like… we’re just WAITING now. Halloween is over, Thanksgiving we did in September, Christmas will be after baby.. wait, wait, wait!
Most favorite thing: This kid waits until I really sit still to move for the most part. So at night, it’s all just roly poly for me. My hubby just lays down and snores, but I feel the baby wiggle for a good long while before he/she falls back to sleep, too. I know pretty soon wiggling is all we’ll see, but at this point, it’s kind of special that it’s just for me!
Mental state: Resigned. I’m resigned to riding these last few weeks out with paranoia. With the itchiness. With the irritated-ness. That’s totally a word.. okay fine, irritation, are you happy WordPress? We just don’t know what exactly is coming. My hubby might have a business trip soon. This kid could come early. This kid could wait until its appointed time and date on the calendar. It’s hard to really say. But I feel resigned. I’m not sure that it encompasses ‘calm’ or not, but I hope to make it to calm at some point or another.
Preparation: Halloween is done. Treat bags done, costumes finished for the year, we even started a lot of our Christmas shopping and some things that we ordered have come in. I need to find time to start wrapping (especially the girls stuff!) I also worked on the canvas for the baby’s room the last 2 days and got it done. I can’t wait to show you! My hubby needs to finish the frame for Brennan’s picture, build the one for this baby, and then start on the frame for the baby’s birth board, since you can’t find them in our local craft store anymore. I’m glad he’s handy, because I’d like for them to be roughly similar, and I’m not very good with power tools 😉 He’s supposed to make a ‘baby bed’ from the jolly man in red for the kids, too. I have an idea he’s going to need some peace and quiet in the shop soon to get those items done! No more TV time for him! Lol. Once I get stuff wrapped (and ordered, and figured out as best as I can), then I guess I’ll drag out the kids’ baby books and scrap books and start/finish on those finally. Nothing like leaving it to the last minute. Really, though, we were dealing with birthdays and holidays up until now, so I guess it’s not too bad to have gotten done all the preparation for the baby that we have.

What I wish we’d done: Taken more pictures. I’m no good at selfies. We did get a few throughout the pregnancy, but not many. Also the food thing. I need to check with my Dr. today! and see how serious this diabetes thing is given that my sugars have been LOW since the very second day of the diet and it’s been about 2 weeks now. It tempts me SO much to cook a bunch of food and not EAT IT. It’s a new month, though, and my plot was to have done all my prepping in October, so I guess it’s bumped back a bit. I need to get out my list and see what we can do about pre-prepping some casseroles or soups, etc (maybe not as many cookies, though). The GOOD thing is that we do have 2 freezers full of meat. There has got to be something my hubby can figure out for us to eat given that and some canned or frozen veggies. Obviously, we need to make a plan for November and December and then buy ingredients as we can to fill out those menus (esp. ones we may eat from the freezer as we have a bunch of leftovers right now) but at this point we DO have a lot covered, because meat is the tricky/expensive part around here, so that’s good! Even if all the kids get to eat is taco meat with no tortilla, or a hamburger with no bun, or whatever, they’ll be happy enough, and I’ll be too tired to care.

You are so freakin’ organized! I don’t know what I’m having for dinner tonight, much less two months from now. I do sporadic menu planning, mostly because my husband is kind of free-form and he does most of the cooking.
Your wait will be over before you know it. Deadlines always come quicker when you have a lot to do before it arrives!
