A peek at the week….inside my womb:
Fruit/Veggie Comparison: baby weighs 3 3/4 pounds, about the size of a large jicama, and is about 16.7 inches long. The nurse I saw this week said I was measuring 2 weeks ahead. So add roughly a pound to that and imagine a cantaloupe instead. Oh boy (or girl)!
Shape: The few pounds I’ve lost with the diet plan seem to have come from my neck. Always a bonus!
Food: I’m on a strict regimen now. A certain number of carbs, measuring my blood sugars 4x a day, etc. Yeah, how exciting! No good stuff, not even if I crave it, really.
Least favorite thing: Sticking my fingers with needles and watching my diet. I’ve never ‘eaten for 2’, but this whole no sugar thing really stinks. I hope you will all send good karma, prayers, etc. that this goes away after pregnancy. Mama wants cookies for Christmas!
Most favorite thing: Feeling like we’re finally progressing. I don’t want to wish time away, but I feel so confined by all the trappings of the diabetes.
Mental state: At the moment I feel fairly calm. My blood sugars have been good the first couple of days, I’m paying attention to what I eat even more closely, I’m not super hungry, but I am annoyed a bit from time to time, which I’m sure is normal.
