A peek at the week….inside my womb:
Fruit/Veggie Comparison: Baby is the size of a scallion (14 inches top to toes) and about 1 2/3 lbs
Shape: I can no longer fit with a shopping cart between the registers at the stores. No, really. It’s bad. I’m at about +13 right now. Not happy about it, but not much I can do either 🙁
Food: I still can’t come up with foods that taste good. Except candy. I just make whatever is available. Dealing with it wears me out.
Least favorite thing: Kids fighting, especially the bigger one being a bully. I don’t have the energy to deal with a kid that refuses to nap (but needs one not to be mean)…
Most favorite thing: Taking the kids out for ice cream and meeting my husband’s eyes across the table and seeing my contentment and blessed feelings mirrored there.
Mental state: Hurry up and wait. That’s how I feel right now. That’s how my life goes it seems.
Preparation:
-I won a pretty big giveaway of diapers this week. Several of them have come in… so they’re stacking up.
-I got my hair cut and mailed the donation off to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. Yeah! The kids got theirs cut, too.
-I finished my toddler’s BIRTH BOARD and did a tutorial for it on the blog.
-I removed some ripped toys from our room, sewed them shut and gave them back to the kid they belonged to. Finally.
-I washed all the 0-3 month clothes and the 3-6 month ones that were in the same bucket with the newborn diapers and put them in the closet or dresser. So that’s done. All the pink is separate in case we have a boy, we’ll use the gender neutral no matter what. I put the diapers and the ‘newborn’ outfits we have, a total of 3 in a container to put them through the wash, it just hasn’t gotten done yet. Not sure where the other clothes are.
-In other related-ish news my husband spent all last weekend painting the downstairs of our house. We have one wall in one room that’s still undone that was done about 3 years ago, it’s really low priority (behind the washer and dryer) so I’m not sure when it will get done, but we now have fresh paint for the first time (3.5 years) on the drywall mud in our house. We’re very pleased with the colors and the fact that it is DONE no matter what. Now I get to decorate a bit at a time. I found some tiny clearance lamps and a storage ottoman at Tar-jay today– each piece under $10–and snagged them for the master bedroom. It adds a touch of brightness and has a similar teal color as a stripe in our shower curtain, so that ties the rooms together a bit.
-We bought a 2nd post for the upstairs that my husband stained and attached to the 1st post on the stair rail–which allowed us to put a baby gate at the top of the stairs to prevent falls. It would have been crooked before, just trust me on that.. hard to explain. Here’s hoping the kids can play together upstairs sometimes without too much trouble.
-We also rearranged toys up there again to make it a bit more structured and gave the kids each one of the toy bins (one had held diapers before) in their rooms in case they want to play separately, and to keep tiny toys out of toddler hands. We still have some finagling to do, but hopefully we’ll have fewer toys downstairs to trip over, and more toys upstairs for them to enjoy.
-Started ‘faux’ homeschooling this week. I’ll blog about that later.
-Oh and we had Thanksgiving last weekend. Weird, I know. But that’s another thing (family visit) checked off the list for this fall.
ps I’m in my 3rd trimester already? Jeez….
Sayre
This pregnancy seems to have flown by! Of course, we didn’t know about it until you were well into it but still…
Thanksgiving should be every day, shouldn’t it?
