I have a confession. I play games on Facebook. Now don’t throw tomatoes at the screen. I don’t ‘share’ my personal scores, I don’t ask for ‘help’ from people that don’t play the game, and in general I don’t ‘post’ about the game, either. I started playing word games but my newest obsession is Candy Crush Saga. I hate that the lives are so limited and that you have to ‘get’ help from outside sources. I think it also feeds my candy need. Ack.
I love that the word challenge games (like the find a words and Sudokus I like in pen and paper form) give my brain something to do. They tap into my vocabulary. I’m not sure what CCS does, other than make hungry and frustrated, but I keep playing, trying to beat the next level.
Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t try and gain ‘extra’ lives, I don’t play on anything but my laptop, and when I run out of lives (usually takes less than 10 minutes, lol) then I don’t play again until much later in the day. So it doesn’t take over my life, but it does seem like it steals my attention for those few minutes. I’m extremely glad that most of the levels are NOT timed, because my kids require near constant attention (I mean you know, sometimes they play for 2 minutes by themselves!!!) so I can’t do much while they’re both awake and needy. Which is most of the time!
What about you?
Sayre
I don’t play online games. Especially on Facebook, which is a big enough time drain to me as it is. I have too much other stuff to do. That said, I LOVE a puzzle book – word searches, Sudoku, crosswords. I probably spend an hour a day at various times of the day doing that. I think it helps keep my brain sharp. And word searches exercise my eyes.
