I had an appt in the city the other day. After waiting in the room 45 minutes (longest wait, ever!) we got back out on the road, and discovered that traffic was backed up due to an accident. Later, as we got closer to home, we realized we saw more flashing lights.
It wasn’t an accident. The road we drove TO the city on?
Yeah it was wiped out by flood water in the intervening 2 hours.
So they were diverting traffic on that lane of road back on the other side via an emergency exit, having closed off that area.
Now? That entire section of road is closed. Kaput. Matt had to drive WAY out of his way to get to work. Poor guy.
Good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise.. but the mighty Mississip won’t be held back. Yikes.
Thankfully the girls were with reliable babysitters who although they were held up a LOT to go out for dinner, still sent us home with some macaroni for the kids and were happy that we made it. Longest… trip…. ever.
