Maria from Change Diapers asked us to join her monthly hop and write a particular story, this month about how we got started….I’ve written about how we got started a couple of times. You can find those HERE and HERE. Please take the time to read them and come back to this post and leave me some feedback. I always appreciate new readers!
I read a blog before I even got pregnant with my first daughter, and one day her post was an emphatic LOVE of cloth diapers on her son. She hit all the selling points, and I was hooked. It did take a while to get into it fully, and we did use disposables for a while, then part time, and then for travel only, and finally, not at all. I continued to use disposable wipes for a full year. Once I started using cloth ones, I kept the disposable ones on hand in case babysitters wanted them, or in case they were necessary for some reason. It’s taken until B is 18 months to need any more, we just bought a new small pack (with a coupon) on Sunday. We definitely prefer cloth wipes, but some places just are harder to clean than others, especially with messy diapers. I’ll leave it at that.
The first diapers we used were prefolds and covers. It’s amazing how full circle we’ve actually come in our journey! If you’d like to read more, click the CLOTH DIAPERS tag underneath this post! Thank you for visiting us!

Baby Butt Fluff
We waited until my LO was five weeks old until we started cloth diapers. I so wish we started from newborn, those little diapers are sooo cute. More importantly with the disposables I could smell the chemicals every time she peed, I remember my mom not believing me that I could smell it. Sure enough every time I could tell you when her diaper was wet just from the smell. It scares me that I would put that against my baby’s skin.

The Geffen Baby wipes are great since they are thin and can get in all the nooks & crannies. 😉

Next time I get a pack I will send you one! 🙂

Baby wash cloths are great for baby wipes, since they’ve got a smooth side and a rougher side. They’re nice and thin. Just make sure to get ones that are mostly cotton, because the ones that are polyester don’t grab ANYTHING! I got a 24 pack for $5 and now I just use them as a barrier for when I have to use Triple Paste or something like that. Toss ’em in the wash with regular laundry and we’re good. 🙂
The Median Mommy
I loved hearing about how you transitioned to full time CDing. We were CDing full time until we started having diaper leaks at night. After trying a lot of different stuffing, and hindering our little guy’s nighttime mobility, we switched to disposables for night use. I’m there with your husband on the smell – I can not stand the smell of a wet disposable diaper – BLECH! I’m thinking of trying our pockets for overnights again, now that our little guy has filled-out, but I am apprehensive because he will even leak through a disposable some nights…

First off I would like to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question that I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.
I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing.
I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out.
I truly do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost simply just trying to figure out how to
begin. Any recommendations or tips? Thanks!
