My golden haired girl is a year and a half old. How did this happen? She’s doing things like sticking out her lower lip in a pout (for effect and grinning right along with it because she knows it’s cute), climbing up on everything she possibly can, and can go in, pull out her laundry basket, put her dirty clothes in her basket, and push it back under her crib. What?!? Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad she’s growing up, becoming more independent, but she is still my little nursling.
Since my surgery was yesterday, she didn’t get to nurse at all yesterday, I’m afraid of how today will go. I guess we’ll see. She didn’t ask at bedtime, but I had already told her she couldn’t until tomorrow. I’m not sure if she grasped that, or whether she was just angry. Because believe me, she was ANGRY when I told her no when I got home and she woke up from her nap. We both cried. Not many times does denying my kids something bother me, but that definitely did break my heart.
All her incisors/canines whatever are all coming in right now. It definitely seems to make her mouth hurt and make her pry on her mouth, but she still refuses anything cold to chew on.
Words: dad, mom, night-night, ball, please, MMM, yes, no, this, applesauce, cheese, shirt, book, blue, sit, beep, me, dance, door, wall, Keeley, go, butt, boo, roar, bath, drink, pretty, chair, love, done, yogurt, chocolate, cookie, pizza, banana and Baby signs: More. Waving hello/goodbye. Thank you. Banana. Cracker. Princess, tractor, eyes, glasses, shoes, socks, pants, diaper (buh-puh), off, up, held, pretzel, chip, vegetables (ve–be-be), bread, floor, boob (thanks hubby), nurse (suss), moo, oink (sounds like wonk wonk inhaled, not actual oink), whee he he (horse neigh of course!), computer (this is ‘ba’ and could be a phone, tablet, or computer), baaa (sheep noise), birds, apple, outside (siiii), breakfast, cereal, moo juice, eggs, sausage, bite, cup, buttons, basket, puppy, hug, bless you, excuse you, and many more I can’t think of right now!
Emotional: Still wants to be held. Gives great big hugs and wants to try and give kisses (fishy face anyone?) and says MOMMY DADDY KEE! whenever one of us is gone for a while (waking up from nap, etc). She definitely is a very lovey child.
Motor skills: Most notably climbing and being very active when playing, lots of up and down, REALLY wants to climb the stairs!
Food stuffs: Nursing nap (1pm) and bedtime. Loves pretty much any kind of food, but tries to ‘hold out’ for soft things, hopefully that will end when her teeth come in. Likes to try new things, recently tried match stick carrots and peppers because big sister had them.
Favorite toys: This is pretty much unchanged, she likes just about everything, but wants to get up and read a LOT.
Cute things: Wanting to give hugs and kisses, saying THANK YOU with a baby sign, even when we don’t tell her to (yeah! politeness),
Not so cute things: minor tantrums, still cute, but annoying when she’s told no. Fingers in her mouth until she gags. Gross. Arguing/fighting with big sister.
