My nephew is home on leave from the military, today is my mom’s birthday, and so we got together for an impromptu gathering at my mom’s. I baked her the cake I knew she loved the most (angel food, also my favorite) and we hit the road. It was nice to see my nephew again, see the kids play outside (they actually had snow!) and the baby get passed back and forth between all the family.
I’m sure we’ll pay for it tomorrow in crankiness (we were gone basically 8 hours) and missed naps, but hopefully the girls will eventually have memories of playing out at ‘the farm’ to look back on as fondly as I do.
Ah family stuff. Awesome.
Except for angel food cake. 😉
