Unfortunately, my computer is refusing to access picture files. I started this post on Christmas day, intending to do a big blog push through sharing things through the new year, but without appropriate access, it’s not much fun!
We went to the kids service on Christmas eve, my oldest sang in the kids choir, we came home and finished the traditional homemade pizza on Christmas eve building and eating, read the Christmas story from the bible, twas the night before Christmas, and then let a movie play while we plotted santa-y things and prepped for bed. I made a turkey dinner Christmas and we’re just kind of winging it while my husband is on vacation! Yeah!
The girls got one larger gift apiece (and by that I mean it was *large, Brennan a block table and Keeley a potato head set). Otherwise they got some clearance clothes, Keeley got some sheets that were on a super sale and that’s pretty much it. We largely used out of the gift closet for Keeley, so it’s basically empty. Obviously, they don’t ‘need’ much. We had already celebrated with my family and we’re supposed to go my in-laws today, so I’ll have to keep this short.
In other (hopefully good) news, I think the miscarriage may finally be over. Yes, it’s been a long process, from Sept. 19th to now. Stop reading this paragraph if it’s TMI but I’ve had a light period since the 23rd, and that’s longer than I’ve had for several years now, probably because of nursing. I hope that means that we’re really on our way to new baby-dom or at least a start to a regular cycle. I had hopefully my last blood test Thursday, haven’t heard back yet, but my hormone counts were super low at the beginning of the month, I can’t imagine with 5 days of bleeding that the smidge of retained pregnancy wasn’t gone by then.
* both big gifts we got on a big discount during the ‘black’ shopping time, for today at least, the potato head set is on sale AGAIN at around 50% off, and there’s a discount you can enter as well, I think it’s worth it at the discounted price. I love that it’s in a self-contained package. I would never pay full price for that table, I’d seen it before and thought, WOW that’s expensive, but we got it for 50% off, and that seemed more reasonable. One of our unintentional, but definitely worth it steal-deals. I like this set, too. We bought the ‘farm’ version — wait for that to sink in…and let me know if you get the double entendre… anyway. Then our youngest got a pink set of blocks from my parents, so we figured with what we had, we’d simply take them back. I think they were around the same price as the potato head set, so they’re not as discounted today, but they are CHEAP right now for what you get. If you need to snag a deal for a baby-3 year old for next year, I do highly recommend that set, the ‘regular’ price is about $1/block even at a discount place, so getting them for less is AWESOME.
Okay, seems like my attention is needed elsewhere, sending my best wishes for a happy new year for all of you. What deals did you find this year, or what great memories do you have to share?
