I mean, how else would you know that the cat in the hat really DOES like green eggs and ham? Today is ‘Read across America’ day in honor of the late, great Dr. Seuss. I never actually read any Dr. Seuss as a child, so I’m learning it all now with Keeley. The only one I’ve been kind of disappointed? with is ‘one fish two fish, red fish blue fish’…I figured it would be a rhyming/counting thing and it went completely off in a different direction. *shrug* I think today is going to be a ‘read’ day. Right now PBS has a ‘cat in the hat’ marathon show on for the next hour, and then I think we’ll all cuddle up and hang in there and do some Seuss-ical activities!

I also didn’t read any Dr. Seuss as a child. Mindy had One Fish Two Fish, The Cat in the Hat, and Green Eggs and Ham. All great. But since becoming a mom, I’ve really discovered the awesomeness of Seuss. The kid’s favorite is The Lorax. The Butter Battle Book is a newer favorite. The Sneetches is an old favorite. Fox in Sox is just so fun to read (I love the tweedle beetle part the best). Not to rush it or anything, but I’m excited for the time when Jacob gets big enough to really understand the meaning behind his stories.

I LOVE Dr. Seuss. LOVE LOVE LOVE. My hero. Taught me to read. Taught my children to read. Has inspired millions of kids in millions of ways.
We had a blast this last week with Suessical activities and I can’t wait for next year!!
