Just Fishin’ Friday: Library Time

67

That’s the number of books we’ve read for the month of October-in the first 2 weeks.

1466

The number of pages we’ve sat down and read during quiet times, bonding, lifting the flaps, asking and answering questions.

A million–or maybe just one really good…

Memories being made.

The number of tantrums ABSENT when we leave the library, a HUGE tote full of books in arm.

This is perhaps the best idea I’ve ever had, actually using the library as a library, taking books out for Keeley to ‘read’. She picks out some, I pick out some, and she’s not bored with the same 30 books over and over again. We’ve read non-fiction, fiction, Elmo, Big Bird, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dr. Seuss and Berenstain Bears, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Worth the $50? Abso-fricking-lutely!

  1. I wish I’d done library time with my son… we just lived so far away! We did, however, have lots of books and he “read” all the time. Time spent reading with your child is absolutely time well spent!!!

  2. fifty bucks???? :::profanity deleted:::; but man… after you already support the library with tax dollars it just astounds me that a person has to pay more on top of it.

On the other hand, reading with kids is one of the best things you can do… one of the best investments of your time there is.
Did I ever bore you with my ‘how my kids learned to read’ story?

  3. Lol. ‘Ami’ I agree with you, but we don’t pay city taxes and in IL, if you live in the country, you have to pay ‘equivalent’ to what the city folk pay in order to get library check out! you can just go and read, but to take stuff home you have to have a card!
