I’ve failed…. according to parenting magazine, anyway

Go ahead and read this link, I’ll wait….

Basically, the link says there are 9 certain things you shouldn’t say to your kid. Guess who’s said most of them? If you think, you? You’re right!

I guess I’m not ‘super mom’. It really makes me think that the author never had kids. Or.. never stayed home with their kids.. or have a live in nanny. Seriously. Sometimes, when you’re hugely pregnant, trying desperately to get things done, and your 2 year old asks you for something you’ve told them no to politely 15 times already, you’re going to lose your cool. No one is perfect, sometimes something not nice slips out, because, you know, we’re human. Trying to live up to someone else’s standards is just ridiculous. Despite my imperfections, my child is still reasonably well behaved in public, and we’re complimented frequently on her nice manners and intelligence. There’s a lot more to ‘parenting’ than what you might say in a heated moment.
What do you think?

  1. I am very grateful that no one was following me around with a microphone. Most of the bad words my son know, he learned from me. However, he also understands that there is a time and a place to use them; they are not casual, everyday words to just fling about carelessly. I absolutely understand about the frustration that would cause said usage. I have experienced it quite a bit myself.

And yet, my son is a lovely, polite person that everyone loves having around because he’s a good influence on THEIR kids. Go figure.
