Fun Monday: Summertime and projects are piling up

Sayre is hosting Fun Monday again this week. She asks about the projects that we intend to do this summer.

There is ONE big project I’ve been working on all summer, well, since around Thanksgiving, really, and it’s a REALLY big one!

now THIS is a project!!

Obviously, I mean baby #2, who is due to arrive at the END of August. We’re not sure yet what will happen, I’m trying to slow down the last few days, I have about 9.5 weeks to go if we make it full term. Obviously, there’s a lot of things that go along with this project, like washing itty bitty baby clothes, buying a stockpile of cloth diapers and getting them ready, packing a bag for the hospital, and so on.

Car seat needs re-strapped, the cover and belts got mold on them, belts were not washable, so ordered them online and they’re still sitting on the counter waiting to be done.

not quite ready...

bouncer and jumparoo need put together

Those are minor things, though, in reality, there’s one big huge project that has to be done BEFORE baby arrives!

Keeley’s room needs to be done first. You know, so we can paint her current room for nursery and get it all set up!

windows need trim

closet looks much better, but needs flooring/trim

Window seat needs a lid and pillows

All in all, we’re getting there, but I just feel so helpless because I can’t DO anything. All I can do is encourage and wait and try to hold the baby in… and that’s about it, really.

Oh we have other things that need done, but they’re all on the backburner until her room is finished and the nursery ready. Why do I have the feeling I’m going to be staining boards at 36 weeks? Lol.

  1. That IS a big project. And I know it seems like you’ll never be ready, but what’d done is done and what isn’t, isn’t. Don’t worry about it too much. Babies don’t need much but a place to sleep, a way to eat, something to keep them warm, and diapers. I think you’ve got the basics. The rest is gravy. I realized when I had my boy that I didn’t need a lot of the stuff I’d gotten. But I am a bit of a minimalist that way…

If I were closer, I’d help you out with some of that flooring and painting and such!
