8 weeks of cookies: Week 2 Oatmeal Raisin

Cool, man!

Two things you can pretty much guarantee that I won’t be asking for go into this cookie: oatmeal and raisins. In fact, I had to double check that I was spelling raisin right. That’s how much I just ‘meh’ raisins, you know? My husband, though, LOVES oatmeal raisin cookies. He must have eaten half a dozen cookies, at least.

Oatmeal cookie 'dough ' is very stick and thicky. Strike that, reverse it!

This one is pretty simple, you buy the oatmeal (Quaker Oats, processed in Cedar Rapids– the whole town smells like cereal some days, seriously!) not the 1 minute or instant kind, but the regular kind. Peel off the lid, voila there is the recipe. I left out the cinnamon and salt. You can put it in. Whatever. Since I don’t really eat them, I don’t remember if they’re supposed to or not. Recipe searches yielded cinnamon optional in my cookbook and left into the banana oatmeal cookies someone in my family makes. Really? Anyway, so yeah, this week, oatmeal raisin. Half of them are already in the freezer (don’t tell my hubby, only 7 chocolate crinkles made it there from last week!) The great thing is that I don’t have the slightest inclination to eat them, so no extra calories for me this week! Also? I used butter, real butter in these cookies. Just another good reason to keep my paws to myself!

Mid nod, mid chew, 'are these good cookies?' I think her answer was yes..

They were taste tested, and apparently approved.

  1. I am not a fan of raisins either… ANYTHING with raisins or any kind of dried fruit is absolutely safe from me. My guys LOVE oatmeal raisin cookies though, so that’s the kind I bake when I don’t want to eat them. I get the recipe from the same place you do! We’re big cinnamon fans though, so it would definitely go IN! Love the look on Keeley’s face.
