Fun Monday: Remembering!

Mariposa is hosting Fun Monday again this week and she asks: Where were you and what were you doing exactly 5 years ago?

For those of you that aren’t aware, as long as you don’t delete messages in Gmail, it will keep them until you run out of space. As I wasn’t blogging then, I have to rely on email to tell me the story.

2005–end of August. It was a Tuesday. My husband had just started his 2nd full year of college, and I was recovering from my appendicitis. I was researching what to do with my401K. That may have even been the day I went back to work post surgery, but I can’t be entirely sure. We had just gotten text messaging and my husband, while walking to class was sending me information about the types of animals he saw on the way (8/24 he saw 6 deer, 4 of which had spots, who didn’t move as he walked by)—the text messages emailed themselves to me, that’s how I know!  Also on 8/24 I sent an encouraging email to ‘the best man at our wedding’s’ mom. She had just gotten a job at the place I had just left, taking the place of a lady that had held the same position for 30 years. Wasn’t that nice of me?

What were you doing 5 years ago? Go sign up for Fun Monday with Mariposa and be sure to read everyone else’s posts, too!

  1. Wow, what a memory, the only thing I remember of 2005 is that I was sitting in a deep black hole and tried to get out ! Fortunately in 2006 I saw the sun again, it’s rather a period of my life I want to forget !
There must be something wrong with Mariposa, I sent her an email last week, but haven’t got any answer so far. Hope she is not sick.

  2. Amazing that you could pull all that up! Joangee triggered a memory for me… 2005 was the Year of the Hurricanes in Florida! We spent much of the season evacuating to my parents’ farm. Luckily, no damage to us or to our home, which was about 8 miles inland.

I just scrolled down, as I haven’t been on the computer much in the past couple of weeks (husband had knee replaced). Your pictures of Keeley are so cute! What a doll you have there!
