Not in this century, folks!

Yeah, so we got a request in the mail the other day. For money. No, it wasn’t a bill. It wasn’t even fundraising from our alma mater. It was an ‘appreciation’ request, from the hospital where I gave birth (I can’t say gave birth, where I TRIED to give birth for 28 hours). Who is the appreciation for? Why the doctors of course! Would we like to send a donation of $50, $100 or MORE? The doctors wouldn’t know how much we gave, just that our name would be listed when they got their check.

I’m still getting bills from the hospital, and that was over 4 months ago. I don’t have all of that paid and you want a DONATION that goes DIRECTLY to the doctors? I believe that’s what my little checking account and my big insurance company already did. It was, thank you for your service, that’s why I paid you the first time, why on earth would I want to pay any more?

  1. I can’t believe they would do this. I don’t think they would be allowed to do it in the UK. We often leave a box of chocs for the nurses or you might give an individual gift if you felt someone was especially kind but it’s their job for goodness sake.
