Fun Monday – NAME THAT FOOD!

Mariposa wants to know: (1) Please share to us how the NAME of your BLOG was made? I can’t wait to hear interesting funny stories!(2) Please share to us (in words or photo, though a combination of both will be a bonus!) your favorite/ most common dish!

1. We’ll I’ve been called Mouse my whole life due to my obviously short stature (not for a presence of whiskers or fondness for cheese- although I do like cheese :-). ) Years ago my mother told a story of some book she read to my brother, that in it had a description of a mouse house, with the repetitive phrase in it ‘the name was over the door’ — thus Lil Mouse and lil-mousehoue and ‘the name was over the door’. Anyone know what the book was? I wish I did.

2. I probably make pizza most often. We have a healthy rotation of food, but pizza is our go-to dish when we have no other ‘good’ ideas. I like to make my own sauce, and our favorite ingredients are green olives and ham. We make the crust out of a powdered mix that you ‘just add water’ to for simplicity’s sake. About 10 minutes in the oven, and you get this!

  1. I have the perfect signature song for you~ windmill in old Amsterdam (I saw a mouse) Ronnie Hilton (it’s on you-tube I checked).

I haven’t made a pizza for years but seeing yours is making me think I should just once in a while!

  2. I’ve always liked your blog name and I absolutely love pizza. I have a recipe for a fantabulous thin crust, but I lost the link when I reinstalled my mac. Going to have to go searching!

  3. Your blog name is so creative. I am very tall, so a lot of my life I got “How’s the weather up there?” jokes and my nickname on the high school basketball team was Legs.

I love making homemade pizza. I use the Rhodes frozen Italian bread and pizza crust often for the crust, though occasionally I make my own. I’ve made stuffed pizza and pizza without red sauce (garlic chicken pizza) – both good, too.

  4. Oh shoot! I’ve been curious about your “name over the door. . .quote. I’m sure you’ve done a google search?

Nothing better than home-made pizza on Saturday night.

  5. Could it be mouse in the house books? Look it up on amazon.com

I really like the whole image your blog title gives us visitors. Or at least me…I see a cute little one making all kinds of good stashes, etc. etc. and your blog is a GOOD stash of info.

  6. When I was growing up, my mother always made home made pizza for special occasions. It always tasted so much better than store bought and was even better the next day cold!

  7. how have you been? I am not traveling – so blogging from home. Sent you an email earlier to test your GPS skills again. Great title as it is. Oh and your books – good reads. I rarely get time to “read” nowadays, but often grab an audiobooks from the local library. I won’t bore you with the details but a good source.

Pizza is also a great all-around food and a staple in our house. But we lean more toward buying Papa Murphy’s “take it home and bake it” rather than the other franchises. Love pizza…. with ranch… NLM 😉

  8. when I was a kid my sis used to make home-made pizza dough (scratch scratch)
… and I loved it soooo much.

In the depths of my mind I recall seeing a kids book like that.

  9. I’ve always loved your blog name, and now that I know the story behind it, I love it even more. 😀

I’ve actually had a “buffalo chicken pizza” recipe sitting on my counter for two weeks that I want to make, but keep forgetting to thaw out some chicken…

  10. I’m also not familiar with the book you referenced. Sorry.

Homemade pizza, we haven’t done that for quite some time! I think we’re going to have to make some this weekend!

    Thanks for sharing!
