You know it’s too bad that we didn’t take any candid pictures today… but we did manage to spread a little joy. One of our church friends uses her business every year as a front to ‘fill a vehicle’ to distribute to local organizations that need help. One of them is the food pantry that’s run out of our church for the town, so of course we were happy to pitch in.
I took the big kids in with me to the grocery store and bought a couple of flats of vegetables, plus a couple of boxes of stuffing. We had already gathered some things from home, so number one it wasn’t a big expense and number two it wasn’t a lot of time. I’m afraid the concept was really lost on the 2 of them, they were more interested in beating on each other than what was going on. Anyway, that’s life with little kids, so moving on. The group convinced us to come in after we dropped of the donation, the jolly man in the red suit was there, and our friend insisted on taking our whole family picture with him and the missus’. I’m not big on pictures, but we carried on with it anyway, we were glad to help even in some small way. The kids got a little goodie bag and we were on our way again. But the best thing is…Ya’ll she filled a 48′ semi truck trailer. In a place that’s not necessarily doing so well financially, she filled a semi. Then in the same day, she got it re-distributed back out to all the other organizations–animal shelters, food banks, toys for tots, etc. Wow.
I also dropped off the cloth diaper packages I purchased with my affiliate monies this summer. All of them went out to people who entered to win as a Facebook fan of the blog. I wonder if in 20 years that will make sense to anyone or not. Probably not. But anyway… 5 people have fluffy mail winging their way to them right this minute. I hope that my efforts of fluffy-ganda spreading will have lasting ripples that go from puddle to puddle, shore to shore… helping many babies (and their parents) fall in love with cloth diapers.
