It’s time for round 2 in our Booty Call Giveaways here at Life Is Not Bubble Wrapped. This time we’re focusing on covers (size small) that we purchased from Kelly’s Closet. Here’s how it works: you enter the giveaway, and if you win, your pick claims boy (side with dad) or girl (side with me, aka mom). It’s really just a lot of fun, and July’s winner sided with me and says girl. So here’s a chance for dad to make up, or mom to pull ahead. You win the booty– you make the call. At the end of the series, we’ll say who ‘won’ and then of course, when baby arrives, we’ll see if our readers were right!
We decided to go with Bummis Covers as we found that these are a great fit, especially on larger newborns, and will last quite a while on a normal sized baby. Our babes outgrew them at about 3-4 months, but of course, they were huge newborns anyway!!! First up, my husband’s pick. I asked him when taking the picture to imagine he was holding a new baby boy and this is the face I got. Lol. He loves the rockets on this dipe, it’s a snap closure, and fits from 8.5-15 lbs. You need an absorbent inner (think prefold, flat, fitted etc) to go under this cover, but we really love it. We have the ‘velcro’ version of Froggy Pond and Celery Dots, and have used them on 2 babies so far with multitudes of washing and no sign of damage. The elastic on the legs is very gentle and as long as you don’t get a massive amount of poo on it, you can reuse it several times before it needs washed although it’s not truly ‘wipeable’. A nice feature is the front flap of fabric you can kind of ‘tuck’ a prefold into if you want to help it stay in place if you’re just trifolding. The diaper (in snaps) retails for just over $13 (aplix knocks off a few cents).
Next up, my pick. I chose the Super Brite in yellow circles. I think it’s a great gender neutral, but has enough pizazz for a girl, don’t you? The prints on the super brite are more neutral (think circles/dots) versus animals or something with more punch, but they are an awesome, WIPEABLE (hello, just use a wipe to get the poo off and you’re good to go again!) lightweight fabric with… DOUBLE GUSSETS! The laundry tabs for the aplix are generously sized (especially compared to when we got ours) and the dipe itself fits 8-16 lbs so there’s a bit more range to it. It’s also tagging in for the win at just under $13. We nabbed a pink circles almost 5 years ago and even though it’s taken a beating–hello it was our only pink diaper for a long time, and got more ‘use’ per washing because it wipes out, there are still only a couple of very small pinholes in the back of the fabric which don’t affect usage or cause leaks. They’re the timex of small covers for a great price. I asked my husband to imagine caring for a 3rd girl… he was shaking his head in the photo 😛 (seriously, it’s all in good fun, he DOTES on our girls)…
Considering how much of a beating these covers have withstood over their respective lifetimes, that definitely gets 2 big thumbs up from mom and dad! Unless there’s a terrible tragedy, I could see using them on however many kids we have, and then passing them on to someone else. So… time for the giveaway, right?
If you don’t win, you could buy either cover (or whatever you like)–this is where we made the purchase for the giveaway—> Click here to visit Kelly’s Closet
Otherwise, here’s the giveaway, and remember that when you verify the address, lucky winner, we’ll ask which diaper you want, and that gives mom or dad the vote. No harm, no foul, just some good old fashioned ‘booty call’ fun! Don’t forget to add us to your blog list/reader so you stay up to date on giveaways and baby updates, too!
